Anti-Abortion Tebow Superbowl Ad Has Progressives Fired up
Tim Tebow, star of Focus on the Family Superbowl ad.
The Tim Tebow Superbowl ad has not been released yet, but it is creating a huge disapproval from several women's groups. The 2010 Tim Tebow Superbowl ad protests claim that the spot pro-life ad, an advocacy ad and is inappropriate for Super Sunday.
It's pretty funny when progressives get fired up about one of their most prized subjects-abortion and pro-choice-which includes a subject many progressives cannot relate to-pro-football, football fans, and the Superbowl.
According to the reports, the former Florida quarterback and his mother will appear in a 30-second commercial during the Super Bowl next month. The Christian group Focus on the Family says the Tebows will share a personal story centering on the theme "Celebrate Family, Celebrate Life."
What are progressives fired up about? The news that CBS has approved a Focus on the Family commercial starring Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow during the Superbowl. An ad yet to be released. Even so, progressives have weighed in while several women's rights groups have fired off strongly worded missives demanding CBS yank the ad.
The group isn't releasing details, but the commercial is likely to be an anti-abortion message chronicling Pam Tebow's 1987 pregnancy. After getting sick during a mission trip to the Philippines, she ignored a recommendation by doctors to abort her fifth child and gave birth to Tim.
Tim Tebow was asked about the ad while preparing for the upcoming Senior Bowl.
“I know some people won’t agree with it, but I think they can at least respect that I stand up for what I believe,” Tebow said.
Thirty-second Super Bowl spots are selling for $2.5 million to $2.8 million.
